RESUME

Profile

I am a dynamic and dedicated interior designer with experience in multiple different facets of the industry including modern furniture,  residential and commercial design. I am a hard worker with impeccable time management skills, learned while working two jobs and doing full time school at BCIT. I believe good design is a union of form and function, and that Interiors should evoke an emotional response through the elements of design.

Experience

Jute Design and Management - Interior Designer

April 2018 - Present, Vancouver B.C.

Jute Design and Management is a commercial design firm in Vancouver. My role as an intermediate interior designer allowed me to lead on a wide variety of projects. My most recent projects include multi-family developments, a high end custom show home in Calgary, a 5,000 square foot dermatology clinic in Vancouver and multiple restaurants and fitness centers throughout the lower mainland. I have learnt strong time management skills and the ability to build excellent client rapport. As we also offer project management, I have experience in hiring and managing trades, organizing budgets and other applicable admin work. My experience at Jute has provided me with strong organizational skills, a keen sense of detail and understanding of both the design and construction industries.

Livingspace - Design Associate

December 2017 - January 2019, Vancouver B.C.

Livingspace is a furniture showroom in Vancouver specializing in high-end European design. Working at Livingspace has provided me with immense product knowledge and the ability to develop and foster client relationships. In this role, I was also responsible for the design, specification, ordering, delivery and staging of furniture and accessories for several large scale commercial and residential projects.

The Village Taphouse - Server

June 2012 - December 2017,  West Vancouver B.C.

Working at the Village Taphouse taught me how to be a productive member of a team and the ability to work in a fast paced environment. I learned that the design of a client-focused establishment directly impacts its success and how well it functions.

Education

British Columbia Institute of Technology - Diploma

January 2016- December 2019,  Burnaby

I received my diploma in interior design at BCIT in July of 2020. BCIT has provided me with strong organizational skills, technical knowledge and design capabilities. It focuses on providing students with workplace related skill sets that enable graduates to be industry ready. Despite the intense workload at BCIT, I was able to maintain two industry related jobs to earn valuable and practical experience which I believe enhance my ability as an employee and designer.

University of Victoria

September 2012 - August 2014

I completed two years of a psychology degree at the University of Victoria before deciding to switch focuses to interior design.  I believe the two years spent learning the early skills of psychology benefit my ability to analyze how spaces impact people's emotions. It also gave me strong skills in communication and organization. After university I traveled for a year in Bali and Australia, absorbing their culture, design and lifestyle practices.
